Hi all. I'm Daniel Hill. I get called many different names. Daniel, or any variation of it, works fine. I am currently a Junior pursuing a BS in Computer Science with a minor in Informatics. I was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana.
My hobbies range from programming and video games to playing basketball and going out with friends. I do all sorts of stuff, and recently I have become interested in mountain biking and am hoping to buy some equipment for it soon. I taught the Intro to Computer Science class for Computer Science majors last semester, which really helped my skills with programming, especially when it comes to debugging. After college, I think I would like to live somewhere in Minnesota - possibly Minneapolis. There I would probably like to do some general software development for a few years, and then maybe work up to getting a job as a video game developer.
I think the thing that worries me the most about this class is that even though I am a computer science major and know a solid amount about programming, it has been a while since I have coded in anything like HTML or CSS. While I could definitely handle a simple web page, I am not sure how pretty it would be.
I really like the idea of "playing the whole game". It seems to me that many people do not know what they want to do when they get to college because of the fact that they have no idea how the things they are currently learning can be applied later on in life, and as a result, they cannot see the interesting things that result from applying what they learn. This creates some major stress when a student is running out of time to decide what they want to do and they have no idea what to choose (it happened to me personally).
