DROPBOX
When thinking about obvious design, a lot of factors pop into my head. Many of which were discussed by Hoekman in the first chapter of his book. Qualities like reduced clutter, allows new users to start quickly and persuading users to take specific actions are all important. A website/app that I think has obvious design is Dropbox. Hoekman says, "an obvious design would let me get in, get what I need, and get out without spending any time at all thinking about how the software works or how to work with my data (6). I think Dropbox follows this rule especially well. It is easy and fast to create folders, find files and upload files. I have used Dropbox a lot during my college years and every time I am on the site, I am only on for a couple of minutes at a time. That's all I need to get what I need accomplished. Overall, it is a website that is easy to get started with, easy to manage and reduces the amount of time that users spend on it. Dropbox is the definition of obvious design.
