2-Daniel Hill

In my opinion, YouTube is a fantastic example of obvious design. The very first thing that a user will see on the page is the search bar at the very top. This is perfect because typically when people go onto YouTube, they are there to search for a specific video. The cursor even starts off inside of the search box once the page is loaded, so the user just has to type in a query and hit enter, never having to click on anything. It really does not get a whole lot simpler than that.

YouTube features obvious design in other ways as well. For example, if a user just wants to view a general category of videos, there is a nice, visible list of video types on the side of the page. One click takes the user to the category of their choice. There is even a popular videos section that will list videos that are currently getting loads of views on YouTube, so the user can feel caught up with the community around them.

Overall, I think YouTube does a great job of implementing obvious design, which allows their website to be navigated with ease.
