For Project 3 I did a redesign of the safe search feature. I think that a users mental model before just believes that when the certain feature is activated it just automatically clears results that could include anything violent or over a certain rating. I don't think that a user really thinks about what goes into the whole search feature and how many videos that are posted on YouTube have to searched through in order to provide the results that aren't what the user wants to see. In reality the user really has no idea what may be going on behind the screen to provide these safe results.
As for the implementation model this has a more technical and more involved aspect with the programmers. The programmers know exactly what they need to do and exactly how to implement these features. A programmer may take more pride into a design as they know what exact work had to go into it in order to make it function. A user is probably just happy with the feature working without really caring whats going on in the actual program code.
