8 - Brett Greenberg

Better late than never, but here it goes.

1.  Since the beginning of this class, my idea of playing the whole game has changed a great deal.  I understood that the process of design wasn't something that just happened all at once, but I wasn't aware of how intricate it was.  I viewed design as more of a linear process, where you reach step one, then move to step two, and so on, until you have your final design.  As I've learned more about playing the whole game, it's become clear that design isn't just a linear process, it has loops and curves and redirections; it all depends on how and what is being designed.  For example, when doing project 4, my partner and I found ourselves repeating various steps, jumping backwards and working back forwards again, and basically moving around the whole game, "perfecting" every step until we felt confident that we were moving in the right direction.

2.  I chose to comment on Rachel Legge's blog post
