I don't think that any sort of online help is a substitute for good design. A software developer should be more focused on creating an easy, usable, obvious design first and foremost and not rely on a tutorial or other system, slowly walking users through an application. Unfortunately, there may never be a perfectly obvious design to every user and there is a large number of users that just don't have the ability to grasp an application right away. In this way, I think help systems are important but should still not be a priority. Designers need to continue to combine the help and the "blank slate" of an application into one and give users the freedom to do what they want with the subtle help of the software.
For the Project 5 persona, I think that a target group would be the fans who go and see the movies and read the comics. This is an obvious group because they will be the ones consuming the superhero and judging the usefulness and necessity of the specific tool. Although, its not really a persona because its one person, the superhero has to be considered a good amount and determine whether they will like the tool or not.
I agree with your persona aspect. You definitely have to focus on the fans for the design. If the design is bad then the superhero is altered and will lose respect amongst the fans themselves.
ReplyDeleteAgree completely with your persona thoughts. The fans are the ones that truly matter, but it also has to work for the superhero as well.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the target group being fans. I also wrote for my persona that it would have to be someone who has had a lot of experience with comics.
