8 - Ally Brinzea

In "playing the whole game," I've learned about how crucial revision is to a design. Up to this point, I've really only revised essays once or twice just according to comments I've received from instructors. I'm starting to see the difference between revising for grade-sake and revising for user-sake. There's a lot more at stake when you are revising for a user. For an essay, you just have to put a little thought into it; enough that the instructor feels you've been original. For designing for a user, it is much more than being original. You also have to consider what the user wants, what the user needs, if it is feasible, if it is cost-effective, and a whole bunch of other questions that one doesn't think about when just trying to receive a grade. In "playing the whole game," I'm starting to really take into account that these projects aren't just supposed to live up to my expectations but the expectations of others.

  1. I completely agree with how you said revising for "grade-sake and user-sake". This really made me realize that the revisions I have made on these projects is not for my HCID grade but for the user. All together, I agree this class is not just a normal class. We are doing real world type things that are going to be very beneficial and in other classes I am just trying to succeed in grades. It is different and I like it at the same time.
