Netflix and It's Motivation For Success

As I said in my second blog post, Netflix is a company that provides on-demand Internet streaming of thousands of movies and TV shows. Instead of focusing entirely on making money, Netflix wanted to start a technological revolution. When the company first began, Netflix would mail unlimited DVDs to its customers with a flat rate; much cheaper than purchasing DVDs at the local Blockbuster. However, this soon transitioned into online streaming, a new and revolutionary approach to watching movies. Unfortunately, Netflix customers became unhappy with the raising subscription fees, but after Netflix decided to develop its own content the company starting booming once again. Today, Netflix has roughly 30 million U.S. subscribers and has been greatly surpassing any rival companies.

All in all, the motivation for the features of Netflix came about by reinventing their business model to better adapt to the technology-driven world and please its customers. No other company had existing features and benefits quite like Netflix offered, which allowed Netflix to start up a company and build a service that was unique and appealing to the public. Netflix knew that as long as movies were produced, people would want to watch them which meant that DVDs were without a doubt a long-term demand.
