6-Rachel Legge

In project 3 my group and I redesigned the way in which a user can add a video to their "Favorites".  We did this by taking advantage of the touch screen technology of most smart phones, and making it so that the user simply has to press and hold the screen when a video is playing.  Pressing and holding the screen is something that is easily understood and doesn't take much instruction.  When they slide their finger and select the "Favorite" button a drop down menu opens allowing them to select a category to put the video under (so that it can be found more easily later).  We tried to make our design as simple to understand as possible, so that it would not take much time or training to master.

This mental model, and mental models in general, contrast from the programmer implementation model in that the person viewing/utilizing it is different.  A mental model focuses on the user of an application, device, et cetera. Whereas, the implementation model would be used by the programmer or other tech savvy individuals who understand programming language.
