Elimination of Unnecessary Features

For my project #3 design, one feature I would be willing to eliminate would be the floating YouTube videos. I included this feature as a way to entertain users when they access the homepage, and to make it more appealing and interactive. However, I realize after reading Chapter Five of Designing the Obvious that this feature is simply for looks and aesthetic purposes. It is not a feature that is required to make YouTube function properly. Perhaps if I would have focused on making a list using the "60 Second" method, I could have included more features that were less aesthetic and more usable for the required functions of YouTube.

These techniques also come into play in "the whole game of HCI design drawing" because we need to remember to think about the most important details and focus on those, rather than trying to include every detail possible.

  1. Alisha,
This is a great idea! I think you're right, it might be tough to let go, but it honestly seems like it would be for the best.
